Indigo Dyeing and Eco Printing

Indigo Dyeing and Eco Printing

With Dana L.

Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026

Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Place: Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow Avenue, 78757

Cost: $35.00 for members + a separate $15.00 supply fee to be paid on class day

Signup begins at the January 2026 CCS Meeting.

Note: Please bring your lunch. We will be working straight through to complete our projects and will take

only a very short lunch break.

What you will learn:

1. We are going to have lots of fun and learn some art processes you have probably not done before.

Come learn how you can unleash the colors provided by nature and use them in your own art!

2. Our love of calligraphy will factor in as we write on fabric with wax before dyeing. We will cut

freezer paper stencils of letters and/or images we choose and create a wax resist on the fabric

before dyeing it.

3. We’ll peek into the world of Shibori, the Japanese art of folding fabric in special ways to achieve

certain images in indigo dyeing.

4. For extra fun, we will do some eco printing on cotton tea towels using items from nature that you

will bring along with additional options that I will supply.

At this workshop, you will have options. You may be attracted to wax resist or you may prefer to work on

Shibori projects or eco printing. There will be time to dip your toe into all of it, but if you enjoy a more

relaxed pace, that is available too! I will happily be there to instruct and guide you.
